History of Calendar Press

George Trainor is on the left.

Calendar Press is a family owned and operated commercial print company that has been in business since 1974. George Trainor began working as a printer in 1960.  Having a natural artistic ability, eye for detail and determination to produce quality work, he became inspired to open his own printing business. George and his wife Cathy began Calendar Press in the basement of their home. They purchased a small used press on a Friday evening and delivered their first print job the following Monday. It was a wonderful beginning!

By 1978 the Trainors had moved their business to Main Street in Peabody, where they operated until May of 1984 when a twelve alarm fire destroyed 25 businesses including Calendar Press. Determined to keep that printing dream alive, they started over in a former leather embossing factory – a remnant of Peabody’s leather-tanning pasts.

With a series of additions and renovations, the Trainors along with many dedicated workers have turned the one-time factory into a well-designed, spacious print shop.  Their enterprise which began with one small offset press in a basement now includes equipment ranging from digital printing to 7 color 28″ x 40″ presses along with mailing and fulfillment services.

Calendar Press also has an extensive line of promotional items to service their clients. Commitment to quality affects every decision from the state-of-the-art equipment they purchase to the high caliber craftspeople they employ in order to carry on their tradition of excellence.
